Belmont Abbey sophomore Melissa Siviter is tied for the lead after firing a three over par 75 to guide the third-ranked Crusaders women's golf team to the opening round lead at the Mustang Intercollegiate, hosted by Western New Mexico University at the par 72 Championship Course at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.
The Crusaders posted an opening round score of 312, holding a razor-thin one shot lead over the hosts. Lubbock Christian University is third with a 323 and Mesa State is fourth with a 324.
Siviter shares the individual lead with Mesa State's Jennifer Hilts with her round of 75. Michelle Low and Meagan Wallace are both in a tie for fifth with rounds of 78. Rita Kim opened with an 81 to sit in a tie for 14th. Sara Jackson posted an opening round 87 to share 32nd place.
The final round gets underway tomorrow.
