Phase I Of New Weight/Fitness Facility Complete
On Friday, June 29, the Belmont Abbey coaches and staff removed the weight equipment from the old weight room down to the lower gym as part of facility renovations during the summer months.
The moving of equipment ended phase I. The second and final phase will take place Tuesday when more weight equipment moves into the new weight room. Thanks to a generous donor, the athletics department will receive 14 spin bikes, four treadmills (giving us six total), two stationery bikes, three elipticals (giving us four total), a cable pulley station with a low row, a hip abductor/adductor machine, leg press, leg curl, leg extension, lat pulldown, ab machines, shoulder press, chest press, a complete set of dumbbells (max of 40 pounds) with rack, a smith machine, several medicine balls, a 46 inch HD television, yoga balls with mats, and a back extension machine. There will be an area in front of the TV with room for P90x, tae bo, etc.
Athletic Director Quin Monahan dedicated the new weight room by bench pressing 225 pounds in front of most of the staff and coaches.
The facility will be open to the entire Belmont Abbey community, including students. Times for use will be released when the fall semester nears.
