Belmont Abbey junior relief pitcher Emilio Pagan was named second team All-American by Daktronics, the organization that conducts the vote by the national Sports Information Directors, and third team All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association. Pagan earlier earned first team all region honors by both of those organizations. Pagan is the Abbey's first All-America selection since Daniel Kassouf in 2009. Pagan, who started all 51 games at third base, finished the year with a Conference Carolinas-leading 13 saves in 13 chances to go along with a 1-0 record as he earned first team Conference Carolinas honors. In 18 appearances, he did not allow a single run over 19 innings, allowing just 15 hits with 12 strikeouts in 66 batters faced. As the everyday third baseman, Pagan amassed a .294 average (fourth on the team) with eight doubles, one triple, four home runs and 34 runs batted in. |
