May 7, 2012 Women's Soccer Adds Three More For 2012 SeasonThe Belmont Abbey Crusaders led by second year head coach Mike Lynch, are proud to announce three more additions to the recruiting class for the 2012 season. The three players added are Megan Bowen (Jacksonville, FL), Betsy Barnhardt (Charlotte, NC) and Melissa Pereira (Cary, NC). Bowen joins the Crusaders after spending four years as a starter in goal for her high school Bishop Kenny in Jacksonville. She was also honored with her teams MVP award, Rookie of the Year and was the Northeast Florida All-Star team starting goalkeeper. Barnhardt is from Charlotte Catholic High School. She made many starts in her tenure there playing in back and midfield. She was also part of elite teams in the Charlotte United and with Charlotte Soccer Academy. Pereira is a transfer from USC Upstate. Before playing her freshman year in Spartanburg, Melissa was a cross country letterman at Green Hope High School. She also was a member of Triangle Futbol Club, winning nationals twice in the super 20’s division. These last few additions will round out what appears to be a fantastic recruiting class for the Crusaders, who are in search of another Carolina Conference title.
