April 28, 2012 Men's Track & Field Place Well At Campbell Inaugural MeetCampbell University last hosted a track on campus in 1987 and Saturday they unveiled their new facilty which brought athletes from 10 different schools from North Carolina. Jean Luc Rolland earned the best performance for the Crusaders with a 2nd place finish and his best Triple Jump of the season. His mark of 43' 1/2" (13.14m) as well as his 6th place finish in the Long Jump 19' 2 1/2" (5.85m). Darren Balkey placed 2nd in the 3000m Run with a time of 9:51.74, Pat Boerjes was 3rd in the 1500m Run with a time of 4:22.81 and Dustin Stewart was 3rd in the 3000m Steeplechase with a time of 10:17.47. The 4 men teamed up to finish off the day in the 4 x 400m Relay with a 4th place finish in 3:50.74. BAC Track Coach commented on the Crusader performances: "Our men did a good job of competing in a small but energized meet. We raced out of our main events on the track and the men raced right at their best ever the week after the efforts of the Conference Carolinas Meet. It was great to see the good energy and motivation that the group brought to the meet." Next Sunday a small group will compete at the Duke Twilight Meet in Durham. Events begin at 5 PM.
