Scotty Steele Earned His First Postseason Honor With A Second Team Selection

Belmont Abbey first year head coach Chris Barrett was named the Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year, and Scotty Steele, Dan Morrissey and Connor Doyle were each named to the second team.

Barrett was named the Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year in his first year as a head coach for the Crusaders. With his selection, all three of the Abbey’s men’s lacrosse coaches in its history have been named Coach of the Year in their first year on the Crusader sideline. Barrett guided an offense that saw five players score at least ten goals, one short of a program-high, while seven players registered double digit points, which is just one shy of the school record.

Morrissey, the 2010 Conference Carolinas Freshman of theYear and third-team selection, earns second-team honors for the second consecutive year. He leads the Crusaders with 23 goals to go along with eight assists for 31 points.

Steele earns his first postseason honor as his 31 points are tied with Morrissey for the team lead. He has a team-high 14 assists to go along with 17 goals.

Doyle was named to the second-team for the second year in a row after leading the Crusader defense with 28 caused turnovers and 41 ground balls. He also has three assists.
