The Belmont Abbey men's golf team finished sixth out of 15 teams at the Carolina Sands Intercollegiate, which was hosted by UNC Pembroke in Elizabethtown, North Carolina. The tournament was originally scheduled for 54 holes, including 36 on Saturday, but weather conditions has trimmed the tournament down to 36 holes. Belmont Abbey posted matching scores of 291 as it entered the day in a tie for seventh. The Crusaders finished two shots behind Coker, five behind Mount Olive and nine in back of Barton. Wingate claimed the team title by nine strokes. Adam Hedges fired a two under 70 today as he finished in a tie for 12th. The NCAA Division II leader in scoring average opened with a one over 73 on Saturday to sit in a tie for 27th. Matthew Foster opened with a 70 as he entered today's final round in a tie for ninth, but he posted a 73 today to finish in a tie for 12th. Arnor Finnbjornsson opened with a 73 and closed with a 74 to finish in a tie for 28th. Cameron Mitro finished in a tie for 34th with rounds of 75 and 74, and Jake Wetzel ended up in a tie for 56th with scores of 80 and 76. |
