Strong Performances & School Records Earned At High Point Invitational

The Belmont Abbey College Women's Track team took advantage of a good meet setting at the High Point University VeltKlasse Invitational held Saturday.  The meet included 19 schools from seven different states as well as nine Division I programs.

The meet format had the seeded sections compete in the afternoon, with the Top 14 entrants in each event seeded in a feature setting.  The other meet entrants competed in unseeded sections in the morning.

JoJo Lind led the way with with a 7th place finish in the seeded section of the Discus Throw.  Her toss of 121' 8" better the standard she set last spring by more than a foot.

Allyson Craven earned a school record in the 1500m run with a time of 5:13.47, she bettered her previous best, a converted mile of 5:19 from two weeks ago.  She finished 17th out of 24 in the unseeded section of the event.

Other strong performances were turned in by Leondra Pridgen and Gillian Brown in the 100m Hurdles.  Pridgen finished 3rd with a time of 16.42 and Brown was 6th with a time of 17.26.  There were a total of 10 hurdlers in the unseeded sectin of the event.  Breanna Mosby improved on her best in the 800m Run by more than 5 seconds with a time of 2:34.62. She finished 15th out of 28 in the unseeded 800m Run.

Coach Mike De Witt commented on the performance of the BAC Women Tracksters:  "The BAC women took advantage of the opportunity of competing against athletes in their ability range to help them to their best meet of the season.  Each of those that competed earned a career best or a season best mark near their all time best.  It is great to see that the efforts of training are paying off, we are now in the middle of the season and the women are competing at their best ever.  It is a great group that is doing a fine job of using their abilites!"
