March 17, 2012 Lind Leads Women's Track & Field At UNC Charlotte InvitationalJo Jo Lind earned two Top 25 finishes in the Discus and Javelin Throws at Friday's and Saturday's UNCC 49er Invitational held at the Belk Track on the campus of UNC Charlotte. There were a total of 35 college represented, including 15 NCAA Division I programs and teams from a total of 11 different states at the meet and over 700 women athletes entered. Lind threw the Discus a season best 118' 3" and placed 20th out of the field of 48 throwers and then earned a 22nd place finish out of 40 throwers in the Javelin at 91' 9". The other top performer for the Abbey women was Leondra Pridgen who finished 12th out of 25 athletes in the 400m Hurdles, she improved on her school record set two weeks ago at Lenoir Rhyne with a time of 1:07.81. Coach Mike De Witt commented on the efforts of the squad that competed at UNCC: "Jo Jo and Leondra did an excellent job competing well against a good mix of Division I and II athletes. They are doing a great job in training and making excellent progress. The others that competed gained good experience and made improvements from our first meet two weeks ago. We are making good solid progress across the team." |
