February 28, 2012 Men's Golf Finishes Tied For Fifth At Pirate Invitational Adam Hedges Fired A Two-Under 69 In The First Round |
The Belmont Abbey men's golf team finished in a tie for fifth out of 13 teams at the 2012 Pirate Invitational, hosted by Armstrong Atlantic State on the par 71Savannah Quarters Golf and Country Club in Pooler, Georgia. Yesterday's first round was limited to just nine holes due to rain and lightning in the area, so the field played 27 holes today. Adam Hedges finished in a tie for third with a score of 142. He opened with a two-under 69 and carded a 73 in the final round. He finished five strokes behind the individual champion. Arnor Finnbjornsson posted rounds of 77 and 75 to finish in a tie for 30th, while Matthew Foster registered scores of 76 and 79 and Taylor Inouye posted rounds of 79 and 76 to finish in a tie for 30th. Jake Wetzel ended up alone in 72nd with scores of 83 and 85. The Abbey's two-day total of 604 allowed it to share fifth with Clayton State. Wingate was fourth at 601, the hosts finished third at 591 and UNC Pembroke was second at 589. Georgia College claimed the team title with a score of 574. |
