Patrick Kuhlman Earns Runner Up For Murphy Osborne Award

Belmont Abbey senior men's basketball player Patrick Kuhlman was a runner up for the Murphy Osborne Award, which is presented by Conference Carolinas to the conference student-athlete determined to have the most outstanding academic achievements.

An exemplary student who epitomizes the student-athlete ideal, Kuhlman earned a 4.0 through his first three semesters, and he graduated with a 3.94 GPA.  As a result of his academic performance, Kuhlman has been inducted as a full member of Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society and is the society’s current President; he also is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma Athletic Honor Society and has been included in “Who's Who Among Students In American Universities and Colleges.”

In addition, Kuhlman has earned Conference Carolinas Academic All – Conference status and was named last year’s Fr. Raphael Arthur O.S.B. award recipient, which is presented to the Belmont Abbey College student-athlete who achieves the highest GPA among juniors and seniors. He is also the President of the Student-Athlete Affairs Committee at Belmont Abbey College.

His passion for community service and outreach as exemplified in his participation as a mentor at North Belmont Elementary school, his undergoing training to volunteer at Holy Angels (a private, non-profit corporation which provides unconditional love and enhanced opportunities for physically disabled and mentally handicapped residents), his contribution of his time to a Hunger Week Committee, his acting as the organizer of a 1-Mile walk/5K Run to fundraise support for a homeless outreach called Urban Ministries, his volunteering at the Church of the Apostles for their annual game day, and his assisting Campus Ministry in providing food to Charlotte’s homeless.
