Women's Basketball Falls To Limestone, 68-51

The Belmont Abbey women's basketball team had its five-game winning streak snapped this evening as it fell to the visiting Limestone Saints 68-51 this evening at the Wheeler Center. The Saints improve to 15-10 overall and 13-7 in the conference after tonight’s win. The Abby stand at 14-6 in conference play and 16-9 overall.

The Saints’ sharp shooting led to the victory as Limestone was 9-14 in three-pointers (64.3 percent) and 27-45 from the field (60 percent).

Limestone was led by Lauren Pace’s 21 points as she was 7-8 in total field goal attempts and 4-4 from behind the arc. Pace also had seven assists and two steals. Maria Young scored 16 points as she was 7-14 from the floor and Ashley Robinson scored 15 points on 7-8 shooting. Robinson also posted two blocks and four rebounds. Tia Williams chipped in 11 points and four assists for the Saints.

Shayla Jackson led the Abbey with 16 points and pulled down three rebounds, while Paula Regalado finished with ten points. Courtney Naquin had a team-high five assists and Asha Hardaway recorded four rebounds.

The Crusaders were 18-42 in field goals (42.9 percent) and 1-6 from behind the arc.

Limestone led by 16 at the end of the first half (38-22) and went on to hold the 30-29 scoring edge in the second period. The Saints never relinquished their lead during the contest. The visitors had the 26-20 advantage in rebounds.
